Hi
I am looking to access my home machine from work. The only information I have is:

- IP Address of my home router
- I have my router Password
- My machine is running Windows XP Home
- I have my username and password for my account
- I have shared all the relevant drives I would like access to

I would like to remotely mount these drives through an internet
connection.How can I do this?

I do not want to install any extra software on my home machine.

Thanks

you can do this without installing third party utilities, however you
pose high security risks,
On windows xp do the following:
Start
control panel
system
remote
allow users to remotely connect to this computer
select a username

the other method you can do, is buy a Netgear router that works as a
VPN server, this will give you a method to connect securely to your
home pc, without needing to install additional software.

You won't be able to do it simply with Windows' Remote Desktop
Connection utility, because your home machine runs XP Home (instead of
XP Pro). If you don't want to install any extra software or
buy/replace hardware then the best bet is using a web-based utility,
like logmein.com . It is excellent, and free.

I would suggest tightvnc. You will have to forward ports 5800 and
5900 to your home computer. You will launch your tightvnc server from
home (before you leave for work, or better yet set it to start with
the coputer). Next you will can use a web browser and point it to:
http://yourip:5800
where yourip is your internet ip not your lan ip.
or download the client(as opposed to the server) from tightvnc and use
yourip (your internet ip not your lan ip)

Let me know if you need help with the port forwarding.
