I recently acquired an oil painting by a German artist who painted in
the late 1920s/early1930s. The painting was originally bought about
1928 in the southern German city of Heilbronn. It depicts a fishing
boat scene, in which a man is standing in a steep-prowed boat close to
shore. Other fishermen/women are in the background. The water is calm
with mountains in the background, suggesting that it is a very large
inland body of water like a lake, rather than the open sea or on the
coast.
The painting is clearly signed "Brehm-Dieterle." but not dated. I'm
looking for more information about the artist and this painting in
particular.
