Hi,

I have a server at home, I use wireless network, which I cannot
secure, so everyone in the condominium can see it. I can also see many
people and use their network.

A few times my computer came out of standby in the middle of the
night. The question that I have is:

1-	Is it possible that some one accessed my server and went online and
those website shows in my history?

Please let me know.

Thanks

Yes. It is quite possible that your server has been hacked. If that is
the case, then those sites would definitely come in your histoy.

1. You should check the history and see if you can see any sites that
you know that you definitely have not visited.
2. Check your servers event log and see if you can find something that
should not be there. Like unintended browser access, logon logoffs,
Network access etc.

My question is: Why can you not secure you wireless network? Is it
that you cannot do it, or there are some system limitations?

Thanks thesolutioner, I just do not know how to secure the wireless
network. I will have a professional do that next week.

My problem is that someone keep hacking in to my system, and that last
time my wife found lots of sick sites and what she think under age
girls (I hope she is wrong). Told her not to click on any of them,
just to be safe.

The problem is since it showed under our history; she gives me the
evil eye and thinks I may have done it.

Again is it possible? Should I worry about anything else?

Appreciate your reply.

ok forget all that was said because its a load of crap. If your system
is in standby it is not possible to connect to it has it does not have
a network link active. on top of this nothing would appear in your
history but that of the hacker's account. However this does not mean
your machine does not contain malware that is automatically surfing
the internet perhaps to give its master affliate money. Firstly
connect to your wireless router like it says in the manual and if your
only using windows xp or 2000 machines use WPA password and since your
computers already know your network name having been connected turn of
broadcast ssid. only turn this on when a machine can not find the
wireless. Once its found it turn it off again. That will secure your
network. Next goto http://www.avast.com and download the free home
version. That should take care of any viruses.
http://www.sunbelt-software.com will provide you with a free trial of
counter spy which again will ensure you have no spyware. Once its run
either purchase it or uninstall it and do a google for windows
defender and use that. These simple things should secure your computer
and ensure no furthur problems. If it doesn't and you still believe a
man is say outside your house turning on your computer which is a
sleep and not connected to the network simpley turn the power off the
wireless router before you goto bed.
