My husband and I are trying to get pregnant.

I am a woman in my 40's in pretty much perfect health. Normal body
weight, non smoking. I work out 4-5 days a week and have no physical
problems.

About 6 months ago I had a miscarriage in the beginning of my second
month. (Really early)

We then went to a fertility specialist who did a IVI treatment. They
told us that the folical they were going for did not burst and had
then become a syst which I was told would pass naturally.

Since then I have been seeing an accupunturist for about 4 months (to
increase my projesterone levels and lower my FSH levels) I have not
yet been tested to see if they have gotten better.

I have also been tracking my menstral cycles using an ovulation kit
where you pee on a stick and take your tempertature. Here is what
I've noticed... On or around day 11 or so to 14 or so I do ovulate
(according to the monitor). Then my body temperture goes up for about
5-9 days. Then it drops and I begin to spot very dark clumpy blood.
Not a lot but enough to notice. Then at around day 24-28 I get my
period.

Can you tell what this means? I am worried that this has something to
do with my age and fertility. Is this the case or could it be
something else? We have not been back to the fertility doctor. Should
we? Or should I go to my regular OBGYN?

Thanks for your halp with this.

Puh-leez talk to your gynecologist about this now. Notify your
fertility doctor as well and be sure they do not have conflicting
opinions. I trust a Researcher will have excellent tips shortly that
will lead you to places for more info, but medical conditions
involving blood or pain should never wait for a bulletin board
posting.

I don't know how truthful your doctor has been with you, but your
chances of a successful pregnancy are unfortunately rather low. Do not
be surprised by the difficulty involved, but don't despair either.

Best wishes and best of luck!

Hello debkathome-ga,

I answered a question some time ago that asked for information about
pregnancy after 40. Although the main topic does not relate to your
situation some of the background information might be relevant. I
second markvmd-ga's suggestion that you contact your doctors without
delay.

Wishing you well.

It is seldom that I see such a well written, thoughtful response such
as you have written. debkathome-ga is lucky you happened to have seen
her question.

It is common for some women to start some kind of spotting durring or
around ovulation. It usually indicates anovulation, meaning you are
not ovulating.

Women tend to stop ovulating for many reasons, mainly stress. Stress
can be brought on by being too concerned about trying to have a baby.

first, talk to your doctor about anovulation. Then:

1) Put away the kits. Put it out of your mind.

2) Eat lots of protein rich foods and plenty of iron.

3) Have lots of sex with the hubby without thinking if it is or not
the proper time of the month.

4) Have lots of warm baths and keep the stress low.

I was recently researching post ovulation spotting. It seems that it
can be linked with low progesterone. The lining can start to break
down too early. One of the treatments suggested using a progesterone
cream after ovulation until your period is due if you arent pregnant
or continuing up to 10 or so weeks.
