HI, I want to see if I can get some help on this.
"ERROR_SECTOR_NOT_FOUND" Problem. I rebooted our nework server
computer by press the reboot button, After reboot, our
QuickBook file on the server is corrupted. I tried to copy the QB file
so I can repair it, but when file copy status gets to about 98%,
window gave me an error message "ERROR_SECTOR_NOT_FOUND" and aborted
the copy procedure. Now I'm having problem copying the file. My goal
is to be able to copy this file and save it to another folder to do
repair.

System: Windows XP Professional

Well, first off, I would suggest to you that you don't think of
the "reboot button" as such. Unless the button initiates the
shutdown of Windows before rebooting (and I've never seen one
that did), it's essentially a power button which is shutting
off power, and pulling the plug on Windows, before restarting
Windows. It's not safe to do this. You need to shut down Windows
and wait til you get the message that it's safe to shut off your
computer, at which point you can shut the power off completely,
or hit the power reset button, as I call it.

Using the power reset button as you are doing can result in
bad sectors on the hard disk, which may be unrecoverable.

I'd be surprised if Quickbooks didn't make a backup copy of
the file, which you might be able to find in its directory,
and restore.

If that's not the case, one utility that may be able to scan
the bad sector(s) and retrieve the data is Steve Gibson's
SpinRite:

"SpinRite is able to operate on all Windows XP NTFS formats,
all DOS FAT, all Linux file systems, Novell, Macintosh (if
temporarily moved into a PC) or anything else ? it can even
be used to repair and recover the hard drive from an ailing
 TiVo!"

Testimonials are here:

You can buy it from this page. It's not cheap, but although
there's no absolute guarantee it can recover your data, it
may be worth the investment, depending on the nature of the
data:

Luckily, I happened upon your comment. Researchers are not notified
of comments, but are notified when Clarifications are posted, so
please use the question clarification feature in the future.

A user's guide on this topic is on skermit-ga's site, here:

I'm sorry to hear that SpinRite didn't do the job.

As for recovery sites, my experience is that some hard drive
companies, such as Western Digital, will void your warranty
if you use recovery sites that are not approved by them.

I'd suggest you determine the manufacturer of your hard drive
and look on their website for information about data recovery.
They may provide a list, as Western Digital does, of authorized
recovery specialists. If you need help with that, let me know.

If warranty is not an issue with the company, or with you, I'll
be happy to look further into companies in your area, though,
to obtain the best services, it may be better to consider mailing
the hard drive to a location out of state. Excellent services are
not inexpensive.

Western Digital's page of recommended recovery partners may be
of interest to you if your brand doesn't provide such a listing:

Let me know where this takes you...

HI sublime1-ga,

I have bought and ran SPINRITE on the computer, SPINRITE 5.0, and I
did a level 2 recovery. After I complete the data recover, I went
back to the Windows and tried to copy the file again to a different
folder, but IT STILL did not work :-(, same error message at the same
%. Now I'm on the verge of giving up and send the HD to the
professionals that can maybe recover for me. Do you have any other
suggestions or do you know any trust worthy data recovery company for
me to send HD to? Our company is in Dallas, TX.

Thanks
