This program was installed by WordPerfect 12 (which has since been
uninstalled). I can't uninstall it. I have tried Control Panel|Add or
Remove Programs (it's not even listed) and YourUninstaller (it's also
not listed). I have visited the company website and found this link:
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q111006
to download a program that supposedly uninstalls the Update Manager,
however all it really does is turn it off. It has become a matter of
principle now. I realize I may have to edit the registry, but am not
willing to do so without some help.

Hi glencella,

I found two posts where the writers claim to have removed
Installshield's Updater. I can't vouch for either and would proceed
with caution.

This is what I did:"

Ok, more information.
MS Windows Installer Cleanup Utility was tried without success.
I'm hesitant to try the registry edits suggested in Hummer's Request
for Clarification (since they aren't exactly step by step which is
what I need before I'll mess with the registry).
But, AddRemove4Good, suggested in a Comment by daemon_byte worked
perfectly. They offending program is removed. So, daemon_byte if
you'll convert your comment to an answer, I'll consider the matter
resolved.
Thanks to all.
Curses to Intallshield!!!
