In 30 words or less: should I follow my dreams, or should I keep
putting in 100 hour weeks at the office as I've always done? For a
nice tip: what's the point of my last 3 questions (or any one of them)?

Follow your dreams to achieve happiness (including self-sustenance).
If there's no happiness, imagine better dreams to follow.

Your last three questions are part of a process of freeing your mind.

(Answer rephrasing -- 30 words -- same sense -- your choice)

Dreams are worth following if they lead to happiness; otherwise,
imagine others that are worth following.

Your last three questions are part of a process of making up your mind.

Thanks for the rating and your appreciative comment. I remain
intrigued about "what's your point"; I'll keep trying to figure it out
and follow up your new questions to see how this mystery eventually
gets unveiled :)

Thanks for the concise, thoughtful advice. However, I'm not asking
this to free or make up my mind.

It's unlikely you will drop everything and follow your dreams, so
instead, work on coming to terms with your life as it is, or change it
in baby steps. (29 words)

As far as the point to these questions, maybe you're seeing if folks
can follow simple instructions.

Why don't you tell us?

The point may be that you are a little lonely after another 100 hour
work week and want to see how real people respond on this wonderful
site, maybe to discover if you want to entrust us with a more serious
question. (Don't ask what the meaning of life is. It has been
answered here before, several times.)

If so, let us have it. ;-)

I am not going to count my words. I believe you have put in a H*ll of
a lot of effort time and money to achieve a medical career. You don't
see happy. Guess is happiness was shoved aside while you worked to
achieve your goal(s). Target has been achieved, or soon to be, now
what? Thus you are over here in Google Answers just trying to reach
out and talk, get get some simple back and forth, to communicate.

Take some time out for yourself before you head into practice.
Consider working for Project Hope, or another international aid
organization. IMHO a drastic change in environment, yes even consider
time in the United States Military, would be a positive change in your
life. Find a brand new environment to practice your craft for a year
or 2 or 3, it will settle you down and prepare you for your next
career stap after that.

I think you have too much money - or too much credit to waste. I'm a
cute girl, why don't you spend some of those $ on me ;-)

But seriously, following your dreams or working 100 hours per week
really depends on if you are the type of person to follow your head or
to follow your heart.

I have routinely followed my heart and it has only made me happy in
the short term. I'm young and emtionally reckless. I would say to
you, work the 100 hour week. At least you will have some money then.
Following your heart only has the perceived notion that the end result
will make you happy. Bu can ephemeral happiness be counted as
happiness at all?

I would also suggest listening to the song, "True Happiness this way
Lies" by the group THE THE. It's the first track on the album, _Dog's
of Lust_.

Cheers,
angela

I think Mitch Hedberg said it best: "I'm sick of following my dreams.
I'm just going to ask them where they're going and hook up with them
later."

Once again, no 'nice tip'.

This is becoming a habit.
