I need to troubleshoot a propane hot water heater. It will not light.
Is there a web site where I can go to to help explain the process
and/or repair.

It is very likely a bad thermocouple.

On mine, even when brand new the instruction manual said that you
would need to hold a lit match in the pilot area it for 3 - 5 minutes.
It really did take that long. As I recall the reason is, the gas
needed to pressurize in the pipes. Just turned the dial all the way to
the right, held a match (even had to keep lighting several matches)
and waited and waited. Again, this was by design.
