What server is your hosting plan on? I use apache. Look for a folder called "public_html". Then upload all the PHPBB files into that folder. You will need to make a sql database, which you can do using Cpanel, which most hosts come with. Then just run the install files, and make sure you choose the correct database. It should do all the work it self, then giving you the option to set up the rest of the site through the admin area, on your new website! I cant really go detailed, as I dont know your full setup, but I hoped I helped! |

Firstly, be sure you have the latest version of phpbb, available at http://www.phpbb.com. You may want to try starting over completely from the beginning. Download, then start from scratch. It's tough to diagnose and fix a problem once you've already put some files up. Once you do this, refer to: http://www.phpbb.com/support/guide/ http://www.phpbb.com/support/tutorials/display.php?t=phpbb2_admin_install The greatest thing about phpbb is that there is very little manual work you actually have to do. The main steps are: set up a blank database (probably in cpanel or plesk, whatever your host uses), upload the files, modify the config file, and then go to the installation URL, and simply follow the directions. As to your question of where to put the files, you should be putting them in that 'htdocs' folder. You should make a folder called 'phpbb' or whatever you want to call your message board folder, and then upload all the parts of phpbb into that folder. |

Without a MySql database the forum will not function as this is where all the settings, posts, user lists, etc are stored. You will have to change to a host that allows you to create MySql databases. |
