Who/list were/are the fashion icons with respect to glamour from 1950
to the present time (mid-century forward)?  The list should also
include(fashion models and socialites such as Babe Paley who
epitomized glamour in the 20th century.

I am responding to shananigans-ga regarding fashion icons and glamour.
 A good source for the list would certainly be Vogue and also Harper's
Bazaar. Take a look at the top fashion models by decade (1950 forward)
and also "the best dressed list" would also be interesting to look at.
 There are books about socialites and some of them like Babe Paley
ended up on this list decade after decade.
