Size of the market for hospital uniforms called "scrubs". Scrubs used
to be worn in hospitals by surgeons. They have since spilled over
into other health professionals - in and out of hospitals. And it
appears that janitors may also be buying them. They're sold in
Wal-Mart as well as Internet and I don't know where the "authorized"
ones are purchased. Scrubs are a type of uniform, so that might be an
avenue to pursue. Don't know of any synonyms. I do know that scrubs
are purchased by "civilians," for costume parties, but don't know if
other professions are beginning to use them (such as janitors).

At the hospital where I work (Calgary, Canada) most of the staff wear
scrubs. I'm a janitor, all of us wear them. As well, porters, nurses,
aides, support staff, allied health professionals...pretty much
everyone except some of the administrators and clerks and the food
services staff.
