If I take my diamond ring to a jeweler to be reset or if I take my diamond ring to an appraiser to learn its worth, how can I be certain that in the process when the diamond is out of my view, that my diamond is not switched for one of a lesser value? |

Unless the diamond has a laser fingerprint (or similar ID ) you cannot be 100% certain. |

You can't be sure, so the moral of the story is only use reputable jewelers that you or your friends and family trust. |

You don't. You could insist that you watch it being reset or take your business elsewhere. My wife does this type of work and lets people watch if they want. |
