I'm pretty sure this is an 80's rock song, I recognize the tune but
all I have is the MIDI file from an old game. I would like to know
the song title and artist. Here it is converted to MP3:

Hello Caladan,
The is somewhat familiar to me... but probably because I'm such as
80's afficionado myself. Hmm, even in its 8-bit form, the song sounds
good! :)
You mentioned you got this version from a game... what game? It could be a lead.

The midi file was pulled out a Doom 2 multiplayer add-on called
"Dwango". There were special maps made for online play and this is
one of songs embedded in the "WAD" file. The game and add-on is very
old now, more than 10 years. The maps and songs were assembled by
someone that went by "Aikman", but I haven't been able to track them
down to contact them.

Hello again Caladan,
Hmm, doesn't turn out to be much of a lead, though I'll try to find
out what sounds similar to it. Probably the "Dwango" maker made the
midi of the song from his collection.

Hello Techtor,
I'm pretty sure the creator made the Doom levels himself, but the
music was pulled from other sources. The Dwango add-on had a lot of
midi music in it, mostly easily recognizable Nine Inch Nails songs and
some others. There were however a few 80's songs like this one and
although the tune is VERY familiar, I simply cannot place the artist.
I've done some extensive Google trying to find the author (Aikman) or
any references to Dwango music. There's been some hits, but nothing
like a playlist.
If it helps, the midi file was pulled out of the DWANGO5.WAD file from Level 15.

I did a little more digging into the DWANGO5.WAD file. The music is
stored in MUS format and I had to use a converter to get it to MIDI
and then to MP3. Inside the WAD file, I used XWE (eXtendable Wad
Editor) to find the song has an index of 284 and only has the name
"D_DDTBL2", which may or may not lend a clue to the real song.
Here's some files:
