jzk,
Georg J. Riedel (Born in 1949) is the tenth generation of Riedels to
work in this 300 year old glass business. Georg Riedels niche was in
creating interest in the use of the correct shape and size of wine
glass when enjoying fine wines. He has been quoted as saying Life is
too short to drink good wine out of bad glasses. His philosophy has
served his business well
his company sells over 6 million glasses a
year!http://www.onlocation.gr/story/storygr.htm?story=2203
From Riedel Crystals own website are these short bios on all 11
generations of the Riedel family. (George is Number 10)

Amazon.com presents quite a collection of Riedel wine glasses here:

In case you read German,

jzk, I searched many public library catalogs, and several on-line
bookstores, but could find no book published on the life of Georg J.
Riedel. In fact, what I have presented here is all I was able to find.
Perhaps the Riedel Family is very private! There were numerous sites
that featured the glassware, but no more biographical information
other than the Riedel website. You did not mention in your question
what online information you may already have, so I sure hope none of
the above is a duplication!
If this answer is unclear, please ask for an answer clarification
before rating.

Hello jzk,
I'm afraid I have no clue as to why the site you found was not found
when I answered your question. I certainly wish that it had!
Had you asked for an answer clarification and had I known you were
unhappy with the answer, I would have made additional attempts to find
your information.
Sometimes researchers don't always find everything the asker wants the
first go around...the asker then has a chance to let the researcher
that s/he is not quite getting it! Through the clarification process,
the resarchers further attempt to seek the information. In this
process, the asker gets the answer and the researcher is satisfied the
asker is pleased. Generally, once a question is rated, the process is
closed.
