I am living in Ontatrio Canada and am interested in the Life Settlements business that is firmmly established in the united States. Life Settlements is one of the options available to the owner of a life insurance policy who no longer needs the coverage for various reasons such as high premiums or no financial burden to cover should that individual die. I know that the industry is highly regulated in the states but do not have the equivalent information about Canada, Can you tell me if the industry is legal in Canada and if so who regulates it and what are the entry requirements. Can a life insurance agent appraoch his clients with this proposal? Are there many people doing it in Canada and how could I contact the association and regulatory body? Ted Leja |
