I'm looking for a comprehensive list of website developers/designers
in Orange County, California (or near by). I need a professionally developed
website made for an employment matching service. It will require that
tens of thousands of employers and employees register with the site
and that the employers pay to register and post jobs. Each
registration will require the input of personal information that will
need to be secure, along with the payment method. Each registered
member will need their own profile page so when they login they can
see which employers/employees have indicated an interest in contacting
them. The site needs to have a very professional look. Also, if you
have any advice for a first-timer please include. Thanks! |

>>if you have any advice for a first-timer please include...<<
OK.
Why ask for a "comprehensive list of website developers/designers
in Orange County", when what you really seem to need is a
recommendation of a few top notch deisigners who can handle the task
you described?
Suppose we did provide a comprehensive list of, say, 2,000 O.C. web
designers. How would that help you?
Perhaps you could clarifiy what it is you really need from us, to
increase the odds of getting a well-targeted answer to your question.
Thanks...and best of luck,

Excuse me, my question sort of evolved as I was writing it. You are
correct, I do no need a completely exhaustive list of developers in
Orange County, but I do want somewhat of a range (maybe 10? 20? 30?)
so that I can compare prices and capabilities. Could you provide a
list grouped into 2-3 categories (e.g. by capability or price) and
provide links to examples of their work?
What I meant about the "if you have any advice for a first-timer"
was...I have never had a website developed for me. Are there any
things I should look out for regarding this process? Things that
first-timers usually get taken advantage for (e.g. price, quality,
scams, unfulfilled promises)?

ithomas2...
I'm not certain I understand the strategy of utilizing a developer
located in Orange County. Since the work is digital, and can be
accomplished in any location and delivered and modified by way
of digital communications, it would seem to me that the developer
could reasonably be located anywhere.
I would tend to approach the selection of a developer more along
the lines you used in your other question - find a site you feel
is well-done and contact the developer of that site, perhaps also
focusing on sites with similar functionality and scope as the one
you're intending to develop.
Let me know your thoughts...

I would like to sit down and meet with the people that I am going to
pay tens of thousands of dollars to. The one thing I worry about with
hiring the people who designed the other site is that they may have a
consulting relationship as well and since my site would be pretty
similar (only applied differently), I wouldn't want to incounter a
conflict of interest. Also, even if I don't hire a local developer, I
think it could learn a lot by sitting down with them and discussing
the details.
