I would like information about Bikram Yoga, particularly whether it is
appropriate for someone with a history of kidney stones.

Greetings! I found no info concerning kidney stones in particular but
I did find info on it being okay for recovery from kidney cancer and
renal stones. Would this be of interest? If so, please indicate
thusly and I'll post my findings as an answer.

Kidney cancer and renal stones are not of interest. I'm really only
interested in any connection with kidney stones. Thanks for looking
into this.

Greetings! A fellow researcher, PinkFreud, saw my comment and
contacted me with the following information:

"'renal stones' and 'renal calculi' are virtually interchangeable with
the layman's term 'kidney stones'"

Following up on her lead, I searched "renal stones" and discovered:

"Kidney stones or renal stones are gravel-like collections of
chemicals that may appear in any area of the urinary system, from the
kidney to the bladder. They may be small or large, single or
multiple."

So I have learned something new today! Fotunately, I was able to just
read about them as opposed to actually experiencing them. I can
imagine they must be very painful.

However, searching the term "renal stone" and "kidney stone" and their
plurals with "Bikram Yoga", I found nothing specigically regarding
Bikram Yoga and the stones.

On "kidney stone" a Hatha Yoga site claimed:

"Also, the following are some of the ailments proven to be relieved,
reversed or even cured by yoga:
ACIDITY, HEARTBURN, INTOXICATION, ALLERGIES, ALZHEIMER'S, ANEMIA,
ANGER, ANXIETY, NERVOUS TENSION, ARTHRITIS, ASTHMA, BACK PAIN,
BRONCHITIS, CANCER, CARDIAC, HYPERTENSION, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, CARPAL
TUNNEL SYNDROME, CHRONIC FATIGUE, COLITIS, COMMON COLD, CONSTIPATION,
DEPRESSION, DIABETES, EPILEPSY, EYE PROBLEMS, FACIAL WRINKLES,
GASTRO-INTESTINAL DISORDERS, HEADACHES, MIGRAINES, HEMORRHOIDS,
HEPATITIS, IMMUNIE DEFICIENCY, IMPOTENCE, STERILITY, INSOMNIA, KIDNEY
STONE..."

I wish I could have located the info for you, and good luck in your
quest. If you wish to accept this as an answer, please post to let me
know.

below. An interesting message, to be certain, from the Yahoo Group,
but the advice to drink more water is a good one. I'm delighted my
research has assisted in your quest.

I learned about the general condition but there really isn't much
information available on the web about my more specific question. I
did find something in Yahoo Group that the researcher didn't find.
Perhaps yahoo groups should be a standard place to search.

Good to know that renal stones means kidney stones. I also read on
some of your links that people feel the yoga has helped rather than
hurt their kidney stone condition. If you are at all interested,
here's a note I found in a Yahoo Group about Bikram yoga and kidney
stone (which is a little more worrying):
