So, --when you highlight something in Word, the COPY button doesn't
become active, or is it that you are able to click the COPY ICON, but
when you go to paste, nothing is there because nothing gets pasted...?
 or is it something else...?

Also, under EDIT, find and select PASTE SPECIAL. Select "Microsoft
Word Document Object", try again.

What happened?

Until you get the Icon sorted, there are alternative ways of doing copy/paste.

1: You can use the Control Keys: Ctrl+C (to copy) and Ctrl+V (to paste).

2: You can also use copy and paste functions from the Edit Menu.

Go on ... have a go!

Also, you can highlight a word (for example) and then Right Click on
your mouse to copy.

A second Right Click allows you to paste.

So ... Who needs icons?

It might be that the document has had restrictions placed on it by the
author. It's unlikely but stranger things have happened.
