Looking for detailed information about Bowman Gum, Inc. of
Philadelphia, PA(formerly Gum, Inc.). Specifically, company
information relating to its production of sports and non-sports cards
before 1960, as it was sold to the Topps company in 1956.
I am writing an article about the history of sportscards, and wish to
include detailed information about the Bowman company and their
production of Bowman baseball cards from 1948-1955. While specific
information about the cards themselves is readily available, company
information seems difficult to find. I would like to include
information about how the company was originally founded, and its
formation from Gum, Inc. to Bowman Gum, Inc., through its sale to the
Topps Company.
Other brand names produced under the Gum, Inc. and Bowman Gum, Inc.
names are Blony Gum, Horrors of War, and Play Ball Gum.
