I have a group of people and we are seeking an online calendar and email service. The requirements of the service are: 1. Web-based, hosted and works with both Mac & PC browsers. 2. Provides a mailing list feature whereby any member of the group can send an email to one address and it will be distributed to the rest of the group. Those emails can be archived on the website. 3. Provides group calendar that allows any member of the group to add/edit events. 4. Must be private. 5. Would prefer a free service, but paid is ok too. 6. Other group collaboration features, such as member directory, online chat, photo hosting, are a plus but not essential. 7. Must be in English. Yahoo Groups offers everything we are looking for, but would like to see if there are any alternatives. The "answer" should provide a list of alternative services (minumum of four). I will consider a tip of $2 per additional suggestion listed beyond the required four. The following are exempt because I already know about them and/or they don't fit the requirments: .mac groups CommunityZero Groupcare Airset |

There is an open source bulletin board system called phpBB. It has a lot of nice features. You could use this with Mozilla's calendar. It has a remote calendar feature. There is also something called BT Email Suite that provides all the functionality you mentioned and more. Take a look at http://www.chase-it.com/BT_Demo_Client_05_28_05.pdf. Let me know if you are interesred in pricing. I might be able to provide you with a solution. Shannon Pattison www.chase-it.com |

Another option would be setting up a free forum at forums.jamestownfindit.com. This could be used in conjuction with Mozilla calendar. Microsoft Outlook also has a server edition if you have the hardware. |
