I own three rental properties, but I do not have an LLC. This year I
paid for two home inspections on houses that I did not buy. The
schedule E for rental income only has places for deductions associated
with a particular property. These are not expenses associated with a
particular property that I already own. The book "every landlord's tax
deduction
guide" mentions that expenses related to expanding your businness are
"operating expenses" and can be deducted, but it doesn't tell me where
to actually place the deduction? Can I deduct the fees for the two
home
inspections? If so, where in the schedule do I put the deduction?
