I have an allotment and while I cannot give you the statistics you require of the hundred or so plots less than a hundred are worked by women and all the men that I know there are over 55. It operates like a club and at least one is there to escapre his wife's sharp tongue. |

Maggie's group is, of course, not representative, since all plot-holders have chosen to do gardening. The one man may not so much "enjoy" it as finding it the lesser evil. |

Gardening just "more than once a month" isn't gardening. |
