Hi juju1234: The condition called "hysterical ball" comes from the latin term "globus hystericus". It is associated with a frequent sensation of a lump in the throat, even though there is nothing physical obstructing the airway. Belching is sometimes helpful in making the feeling go away. It was originally named globus hystericus because it was thought to be a psychological malady - but today more is known about its causes. The following sites give excellent information about this condition and make for interesting reading.
