I'm a 52 year old male with a 4 year college degree in Communications,
a professional resume (mostly time with a major television network). 
I've been out of the workforce for a few years, but want to find a
home-based business that is legitimate and can provide some income.

I live on an island in the Pacific Northwest, so travel to the
mainland is a time-consuming thing to do.  

Looking for actual business ideas and/or steps to take to help me find
what those business opportunities are.

Thanks for the response.  I notice that most of the websites you
forwarded were businesses themselves - very few overviews of the
home-based market from 'indpendent' sources.

Any chance of finding a summation of the work-at-home business world
from journals or sites that aren't in the business of promoting
businesses?

Hi!

Actually, since you were seeking for ideas I looked for references 
having this frame of mind. Since these are workable ideas, I posted
them here. Please understand the researchers can only work based on
the premise of the original question since that what is written there
would be the basis of the question that needs to be answered.

Anyway, I tried to look for studies but I still can't find anything
for these things (though that doesn't mean they don't exist). It seems
that there isn't much out there at the moment.

independent analyses of the home-based business (though I didn't
