Can anyone give me a guide as to the rate of commission on net profit
that mail order catalogue companies may charge the supplier? I am
interested in both USA and UK based companies.

I don't understand your question. Mail order catalogs do not pay
commissions; they operate just like any other retail outlet. They
purchase products from their supplier most double that cost and sell
it on to the customer.
