I need to know where something is in Napa, CA. There is a giant sign
that says "Welcome to this famous wine growing region NAPA VALLEY"
that is somewhere in Napa. Could you give me a street address or
intersection as to where it is? Additionally, a google maps link would
be absolutely perfect with the satellite image of exactly where it is.
Thanks!

Hello sn1022-ga,

There are lots of stock photos of the sign, both current and
historical. There are also lots of photos from tourist photo albums.
The only location description I've found is that it's on State Route
29 near Yountville. Will you accept this as the answer? Thanks.

Sure, I'll accept it. I guess theres many signs all over the valley. I
thought there was only one sign. I'm sure when I'm driving around
Route 29 and 121/12 I'll find it. Thank you. Yes, I'll take that as
an answer.

There is also one on an old biking trail near Calistoga. I can name
the trail as an answer if you like.

Hello sn1022-ga,

This has been an extremely frustrating search because I?m familiar
with the sign but I can?t tell you exactly where it is. I?ve spent
hours looking for the location but I?ve only come up with lots of post
cards, posters and tourist snap shots but not the exact site or
directions for getting there.

This description of this snapshot of the sign comes closest giving you
directions for how to get there. Since the photographers invite
contact I suggest that you ask them if they can give you more precise
directions.

This series of photos from a group of Stanford students cavorting on
the sign might also help since the address of the site owner is
available. You might contact him and ask him if he can give you
directions to the sign since his group seems to have spent some time
there and might have an accurate memory of where it is.

Finally, here are several search strategies that provide you with lots
of other examples of the sign. You might contact the photographers to
see if they can help.

There are a number of signs like the one you mentioned in and around
Sonoma County. Which one are you interested in?
