Ok im a network asmin here at work. An employee with hr is creating an
employee database. when prompted to create a query using the query
wizard, the fields do not show. How can i make the fields show on the
query wizard, after creating a table using the table wizard? I know
that the query can be done manually but I want to know why it doesnt
do it with the wizard. I am going to go through a step by step process
of what i did.

I opened access2003 then selected file->new->blankdatabase->saved it as "test".
then, i first did "create table by using wizard"->selected "employees"
from "sample tables"->hit">>" to add all into "fields in my new
table"->"finish"

after all that, i see the fields on the screen, then i close the
window and select "create query by using wizard"...here is where i run
into the problem. i see the dropdown menu that says "tables:employees"
but the available fields section is blank.... SO, how do i add the
fields from the table to show on this query wizard and the rest of the
wizards. can you guys help me out? Thanks.
Sincerely,
"the IT guy"

Eavellan,

Can you upload the mdb to someplace where we can get it? It is easier
to troubleshoot and provide steps if we can see what you see.

see the exact thing i was looking at. thanks.

Edgar,

I did exactly what your steps detail and I could see the list of
available fields just fine. That's why I wanted to look at your mdb.
Your steps detail this problem appearing on a new blank database in
which you create a new empty table using a wizrd. Since that can't
possibly have your company data in it, can we see it?

I have the same problem on two machines . This is not normal for
access for sure and is not because of the DB either i think. I tried a
new blank DB . Created both new table as well as a link to an excell
file but new form wizard still does not bring available table or
linked document fields . Tried removing office 2003 and reinstalling
it but problem still persists . Problem identified by user when
created a db with excel links and could not view available fields in
new form wizard . Other users can view the fields in wizard of the
same DB . Could it be because of an update ?
