My computer periodically (perhaps the 31st of each month - that has 31
days) does weird things such as laughs, or makes chicken sounds, or
other such sounds. I believe this to be the manifestation of a virus
but my virus checker does not catch it.

I am pretty technical and work in the computer industry but I have yet
to be able to track this down. I have used anti-spyware apps to no
avail as well. Please help me identify my problem and solve it.

I run Windows XP Professional and ussually Firefox - though
occasionally I will find other applications have opened Internet
Explorer when I am gone and then I have numerous popup windows etc to
shut down.

Howdy aberro-ga,

The following Google Answers entry points to a message thread that might help.
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=442741

"When I am online (Broadband) I sometimes get some funny noises from my pc."
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=85068&highlight=laughing

That thread indicates that AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) might be the culprit.

If you could check that thread and/or theory out, and post the results here,
that might be helpful. Thanks!

Looking Forward, denco-ga - Google Answers Researcher
