Greetings Meskimoman,
Your question might be lacking a few details to be clear. For example,
are you talking about a specific area, let's say, Australia? Also, did
you ask this question in order to confirm the factoid that you
mentioned?

Aboriginal just means first inhabitant

I don't understand your question, there have been humans in Europe for
far longer than 1500 years.

This site about the Australian Aborigines agrees with your 40,000
years, although it mentions other quite different estimates. It is
normal to reckon 30 years per generation, but maybe 20 years is also
appropriate.

Europe has been populated by humans for much longer than 1500 years.
Remeber Julius Ceasar, Stonehenge, menirs, cave drawings, etc., etc.

40,000 years for aborigines in Australia is UNPROVEN. According to the
geneology of Jesus in the Bible, Luke 3; 23-38, and cross referencing
with the stated age of the Patriarchs from Genesis 5; 1-32, Man has
only been on the earth for about 8,000 years. Of course, some may
disparage this, but do the maths. Write up a chart and see. In fact,
according to the Bible, and the chart, the Patriarch Methuselah
oputlived his own son by four years. I really look forward to the
response.

Pugwash, since you asked for a response: ;-) The Aborigines didn't
know the Bible and just went ahead and moved into Australia before it
started counting.

I've never really understood how some history books and myths produced
by a breakaway monotheistic Egyption sect could be absorbed into
Christianity, let alone treated as fact.

The March issue of National Geographic has an article on DNA used to
determine how long humans have lived in various parts of the earth.
Humans have lived in Europe for a very long time. NG should be
available at libraries.
