My friend has lived with a man in Hong Kong for three years. They
were engaged but unmarried. They also have no children. However they
commingled much of their financial arrangements when living together.
They also attend social events as a couple.

My friend and her fiancée, however, has a fallout. The man now
wants to break up. What is the legal status of this couple under Hong
Kong Laws? I.e, are they common law husband and wife? Do they have to
go through similar proceeding in dividing their asset and arranging
maintenance (man has much higher income than the woman)? Is asset
accumulated when they live together community property?

Thank you
