What proportion of all DVDs sold in the U.S. are sold through Internet

Hello again Terpfan91,

My findings are as follows:

Total 2003 dollar DVDs and VHS tapes sales in the U.S.
--- $14.4 billion

The percentage of those sales that were made online
--- 8.8% online

Total 2004 dollar DVDs and VHS tapes sales in the U.S.
--- $16.6 billion

The percentage of those sales that were made online
--- 9.8% online

Excerpt:

?U.S. consumers are indeed buying more of their movies online each
year. Adams Media Research said that $12.2 billion in DVDs and VHS
tapes were sold in the U.S. in 2002, and 6.3% of them were purchased
online. A year later it was $14.4 billion with 8.8% coming from online
sales, and sales were $16.6 billion in 2004, 9.8% from online.?

Total DVD sales
- 2004 sales, $15.5 billion
- 2003 sales, 12 billion

USA Today January 5, 2005

?For full year 2005, DVD sales were two and a half times as large as
DVD rentals ($15.7 billion vs. $6.7 billion) but DVD rentals grew
almost four times as much as DVD sales (+16.9% vs. +4.5%).?

Additional information that might interest you:

1.2 billion DVDs were sold in 2004 according to the paragraph below.

?DVD may have driven the home video industry to a record year in 2004,
but some industry observers see hurdles ahead in 2005.

Overall home video revenue rose to nearly $24.5 billion, up 9% from
2003. But prices continued to drop, reducing hit titles to commodities
sold at supermarkets and truck stops.

An estimated 1.2 billion DVDs were sold last year, but no individual
title could match the pace set in 2003 by Finding Nemo.?
