Hi there,

I'm investigating various drag and drop DHTML libraries such as the
walterzorn.com library - but I don't know how to get this info from
the browser to my server side web application.

See http://www.walterzorn.com/dragdrop/demos/frameset/frame.htm for an
example of the type of thing I want - only with functionality to
submit this edited information. If some HTML textareas could be added
to the left hand frame this would be ideal.

You don't need to use this specific drag and drop library - if another
will do the same. I see my main use for it will be the swapImage()
functionality rather than lots of repositioning.

The user then confirms that layout and submits it to my server running my
PHP application which will parse this user edited layout - this parse
could be Perl if need be but I'd much prefer PHP.

Firstly is it possible to do this or do these settings remain client side?

If this is possible can someone provide an example of how to do this
sort of thing and what sort of format this would be passed to the
server as?

I'll tip well if it is possible and a good easy-to-understand example
is shown (as I'll need to be able to amend this quickly), both the
HTML and a quick example of how to parse this
information into a format I can use easily.

Hi define_web,

Thank you very much for your comment - this is helpful.

You sound like a person who could help!

Could you post an example of
http://www.walterzorn.com/dragdrop/demos/frameset/frame.htm inside a
form then a short php script to echo back the x,y coordinates of where
the user dragged the image to, and an exmaple using the swapImage()
function too? I'm not sure how to access the DHTML parts of these
moved objects.

Many thanks

This hasn't been updated by anyone for a few days.

Can anyone provide an example in DHTML and PHP which will echo back
coordinates of where the user dragged an image to?

Thanks
