Hi,
The best resources for youth activity sheets for a museum are the same
resources that are used for art classes in schools. I know most
schools don't do a good job of using these resources, but they are
available. If you do a search from that perspective you'll find tons
of information. I'll cover some of the mega sites her, but you'll
probably want to explore more on your own when you're done with these.
The Support for Teachers in Art
(STArt)http://www.open.k12.or.us/start/results.html?-action=search&strand=Create,+Present,+and+Perform
This Web site is loaded with resources. The whole site is great, and
the search for related web sites leads you to 25 other sites with lots
of hands on activities.
The Minneapolis Institute of Arts | Walker Art Center
http://artsconnected.org/
is another site with good hands on materials. There are email links to
regional trainers who are available as resources.
The National Directory of Teacher Programs and Resources in Art
Museums
http://www.nga.gov/education/tpmain.htm
also has plenty of good resources for museums, parents and classroom -
not to mention kids!
An Austrailian site Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory
has some interesting worksheets if you're interested in cross cultural
activities.

More theorectical information is also available.
Arts's Edge at the Kennedy Center
http://artsedge.kennedy-center.org/professional_resources/overviews/bookshelf.html
provides a list of books that address the issue of "philosophies,
practices, and theories about arts education."
One book listed is:
"True Needs True Partner
Ellen Cochran Hirzy, editor
Washington, DC: Institute of Museum Services, 1996
This publication showcases how educational programs for K-12 students
at museums have been valuable resources, and how to form effective
partnerships between schools and museums."
Art History Education
An AskERIC InfoGuide
http://www.askeric.org/Old_Askeric/InfoGuides/alpha_list/Art-History-Education-5.97.html
The top of this page is a listing of email lists that are geared to
art education. Then comes web sites. The last part is a list of books
that address the need for hands on art education. Several of these
should be relevant if you're looking for theory to back up your use of
worksheets in a museum program.
Search terms used:
practice: art appreciation education worksheets teachers resources
theory:incorporating art education museum services research
As I said, there is so much out there, these are good overall
resources. You can stop with these or let them lead you to hours of
surfing and discovery.
Have fun,
