What is the optimum lap top computer brand that I should buy for my business?
I am a mechanical engineer who works on energy simulations for
buildings, as well as working with AutoCAD.
I am looking for a lap top that can efficiently handel advanced
computational software and graphics (not interested about video games
at all).
My major concers are PRICE (under $1,500CAD), performance, and
hardware reliability.
Please include anticipated price and brief hardware description (e.g.
processor, cash mem, RAM,..).
Thanks very much...

I'm on my own working from home.
I have a desktop computer and looking for a laptop to do outside presentations.
I may also work as a contractor in another company's office. This is
why I am looking for a good laptop (only one).
I can wait for a week while the laptop is being serviced.

No dongle is needed, no port is used, no need for a very larg screen.

I am not an expert, so I really can not build a computer.

Since I may do simulations off my home office, I would need a good
laptop. Otherwise, if I only do outside presentaions, then I would
only need a basic laptop which can do power point presentations.

"Simulations" as you work on require animation programs, which in turn
require higher RAM and clocking speed.

I would suggest you check out the *cheapest* yet *quality*
manufacturer of PCs One example would be Dell (p.s. if you need
customer service, disregard this)
Dell XPS 600
Processor: 3.0 Intel Core Duo
RAM: 2GB
Harddrive: 160GB
Monitor included: No

Price: 1,399 (at my customization) ...they let you customize just the
type of stuff you want in the pc.

I will caution you against HP/COMPAQ

Why laptops? Do you work at work and then take it home, too?

How many computers are you buying? Does your software include a
dongle? (and tie up a port)

How long can you be without the computer while It is serviced?

Do you need tablets or very large screen monitor?

I had better luck with local built computer. Dell is good and you can
design the machine on their website.

Two computers: one to do the simulation and one to lug through the
building site might make good sense.
