I have moved from the UK to Canada seven months ago. I am on a 1 year Visitors Visa and my Kids are on 1 year school permits, we have applied for residency as well. My home and Investment properties are in the UK. Should I pay Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax to the UK or to Revenue Canada. Are there any offshore trusts that can be created to avoid higher Taxes? I require an Immigration Tax specialist or Accountant with knowledge of International Tax Treaties. |

As you said in the question that you have applied for residency as well, this means that you now have to pay the tax to the canada revenue because you are now staying in canada |

This is a free comment, not an "answer" to your question, which only a G-A Researcher with a blue name can post. Here is the UK-Canada treaty about avoiding double taxation: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cnr/app_dtt.htm http://www.fin.gc.ca/treaties/cndtxtreat_e.html Hopefully identical. And, of course, there are websites and books on the subject: http://www.grantthornton.ca/tax/articles/TAX-Nwsletter_Transferring_UK_Pension_02-19-05.pdf http://www.horwathcw.com/publications/taxintheUK.pdf http://www.lexisnexis.ca/bookstore/bookinfo.php?pid=1287 |
