How many design engineers does AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) have? I'm
looking for the latest figure, or a figure for 2005. I'm only
interested in counting those engineers who are working on processor
design, as opposed to those working on semiconductor manufacturing.

Thanks for looking - that's a portion of the answer. The "Direct
Connect Architecture" referred to in the press release is just one of
the technologies used in a processor. So I would expect the total
number of design engineers for processors to be much larger than that.
