i've just tried keeping a log of who is trying to break through my firewall. astonished to see that someone is trying every few minutes. who/what are these things? I'm running a well updated G4 powerbook, the latest OSX, with Safari. What would happen if i didn't have this firewall up? Is information i have stored in text files safe? ie unobtainable? thankyou!! PS here are a couple of the logs: Apr 5 14:08:05 Adam-Barleys-Computer ipfw: Stealth Mode connection attempt to TCP 10.0.0.11:49528 from 195.224.48.80:110 Apr 5 19:14:01 Adam-Barleys-Computer ipfw: Stealth Mode connection attempt to UDP 10.0.0.11:51233 from 10.0.0.2:53 Apr 5 20:59:52 Adam-Barleys-Computer ipfw: Stealth Mode connection attempt to UDP 10.0.0.11:16401 from 17.250.248.149:16384 |

In fact there is nothing serious. Maybe I should post my firewall log here, indeed there is more than 5,000 'attack' per day for I am using Firefox/emule all day long. I have Nothing to worried about for I dont think a hacker will be intrested in my love letters to my girlfriend or will steal my e-mails to my Grandmather. |
