I am looking for a blue and affordable laser pointer. I know that the
currently available blue laser pointers use crystals to decease the
wavelength from red to blue. However, I have read that about by now
blue diodes should be available which would result in cheaper lasers.

Does anyone know if, when or where to find a blue laser pointer with
2-40 mW and if possible below 500 USD? (better below 200)

For whatever it is worth, the best price I could find is $899 (0.6-2mW) and
$1099 (2-5mV) for a blue laser pointer.
