Hello oloo-ga,

Thank-you for your question.

There are a vast number of domain registrars to choose from and I
would always recommend someone starting with one of the largest
companies first. These companies usually have the greatest experience
with new customers and can offer the greatest help when/if you run
into trouble.

As a starting point I would recommend one of the following companies
(which is listed in order of market share):

   1. Go Daddy (http://www.godaddy.com/)
   2. Network Solutions (http://www.networksolutions.com/)
   3. eNom (http://www.enom.com/)
   4. Tucows (http://domainhelp.tucows.com/)
   5. INWW (http://www.melbourneit.com.au/)
   6. Register.com (http://www.register.com)
   7. DirectNIC (http://www.directnic.com/)
   8. Schlund.de (http://www1.schlund.de/index.php)
   9. Wild West Domains (Part of Go Daddy)
  10. Dotster (http://www.dotster.com/)
  11. BulkRegister (http://www2.bulkregister.com/index.html)
  12. Moniker Online Services (http://www.moniker.com/index.jsp)
  13. OnlineNIC.com (http://www.onlinenic.com/index.php)
  14. DSTR Acquisition VII, Inc (http://www.domainbank.com/)
  15. Fabulous.com (http://fabulous.com/)

I have personally used each of the top 5 registrars mentioned here and
would recommend any of those as a starting point to register your
domain name.

If you require any further assistance on this subject please do not
hesitate to ask for clarification.

I would have rate this answer higher if you had not mentioned
register.com which I termed fraud. I registered with them for a domain
and domain email address and after two days they sent me an email with
fake stories, that the risk management found my data suspicious and
that I should FAX all my credit card imformation within 48hrs. Having
been adviced never to reveal my card information to anybody, I
declined. They locked my domain name with my domain email address and
billied my money and said that if I want to continue, I should
reregister again. I know I did not do anything wrong why then should
this be happening to me, the I said may be I made a mistake in filling
the form. I reregistered again but to my greatest supprise, after
another two days, they started saying the same thing again, that I
should fax them my credit card information, then it dawned on me that
I'm in the hands of the evil men.

Please help protect the helpless and never refer anybody to
register.com, and you will be rewarded by the almighty God.
