I am looking for the 25 largest healthcare providers in the US by
revenue. Providers include hosptial networks and systems and also
individual hospitals. So, Kaiser Permanente is a hospital system and
should be considered one unit as opposed to broken down into separate
facilities. The list should be from 2005 or 2004.

Hi, your answer includes a number of healthcare payers. Payers are
insurance companies. I am not looking for those. I am looking for
providers. So Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Regence, etc are
not providers. Can you find me just providers?

Dlmanch,

I am sorry you were unhappy with my answer.

If you did not feel that I answered your Question to your
satisfaction, you should use the "Request Clarification" process,
BEFORE rating the Answer prematurely. Once a Question has been
rated, the Rating can NOT be changed. Typically, when a Rating is
posted on a Question, it means that the Customer has closed the
Question, and no further input is required from the Researcher.

Could you please tell me which companies do not belong on the list I provided.
You mentioned Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Regence.

Are there others?

Sorry for closing the question. This is the first time I have used
google answers and did not know.

Here are some of the companies that do not belong:

BCBS Association (Insurance)
Cardinal Health (Medical Equipment)
United Health Group
Medco
Caremark
Wellpoint
Aetna
Cigna
Express Scripts
BCBS Michigan
Humana
Pacificare
Healthnet

That's just in the first half...

I'm not sure what the next step is. If you want to forget about it
and move on, that's fine.

Dear Dlmanch,

Thank you for your clarification.
There are two options; move on as you suggested or apply for a refund.

I asked for healthcare providers, not healthcare payers.

I'm pretty sure United Health Care and Coventry are insurers.

A number of the others are prescription providers:

"Pharmacy Benefit Plans evaluated:
AdvancePCS, Aetna, Anthem, Caremark, Eckerd Health Services,
Express-Scripts/NPA, Medco Health Solutions, Prescription
Solutions/PacifiCare, RxPRIME (CIGNA), United Healthcare,
Walgreens Health Initiatives & Well Point Pharmacy Management."

from

http://www.wilsonrx.com/PDF/medco_pr_03_09_18.pdf

Search strategy:

medco caremark pacificare "Express scripts"

because I thought these were prescription providers (although that
wouldn't necessarily rule out them from also having hospitals). I was
hoping to find a list of prescription providers by using a number of
them in the search strategy.

You could add the VA to Bobbie's list to get the number of providers
back up. I don't know the VA's revenues, but

"With 157 hospitals nationwide, VHA manages one of the largest health
care systems in the United States."
