Hi! Thanks for the question. The Dietitians of Canada website is a very good source to answer these questions. First of all, professional nutritionists are recognized as Dietitians under Canadian law. This is explained in length by our first link below. "What is the Difference Between a Dietitian and a Nutritionist?" http://www.dietitians.ca/public/content/find_a_nutrition_professional/difference.asp ------------- How much do they make? "On average, an entry-level clinical dietitian can anticipate making $40,000+ per year." "Becoming a Dietitian" http://www.dietitians.ca/dc/faqs_becoming.asp You can get more detailed salary figures from this 2003 report. It isn't new but at least you will have an idea. "Results of New Graduate Survey - 2003" http://www.dietitians.ca/pdf/finding_a_job_factsheet.pdf ------------------------ What types of jobs do they usually work in? They usually work as clinical dietitians in health facilities like hospitals. They also do research assisting the private sector in product development or consumer education. You can get a run down of where and what type of work they do in our next link. "Where Do Dietitians Work?" http://www.dietitians.ca/public/content/career_in_nutrition/where_do_dietitians_work.asp ------------------------- How many jobs are available? There is no exact figures as to how many jobs but the outlook is very good for this career according to Job Futures Canada. As for current conditions of employment, dietitians only has a .07% unemployment rate and the assesment is that there are more jobs than qualified people to fill these positions. "Pharmacists, Dietitians and Nutritionists" http://jobfutures.ca/noc/313p3.shtml Search terms used: Canada nutrition career Canada dietitian salary Canada dietitian employment outlook I hope these links would help you in your research. Before rating this answer, please ask for a clarification if you have a question or if you would need further information. Regards, Easterangel-ga Google Answers Researcher |
