John,

Can you give us some more details? It's not clear to me precisely what
you mean when you say that something comes on when you try to get your
mail. The more you can tell us, the better we'll be able to help.

You may need to optimize and reset Microsoft Internet Explorer, adjust
your Internet security and privacy settings, or reregister your
scripting files. You may also need to adjust your antivirus software
settings or install the latest version of Java. Try one or more of the
following solutions:

Optimize Internet Explorer, and then reset your default browser settings.
On theTools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
On the General tab, click Delete Cookies, and then click OK.
Click Delete Files.
Select the Delete all offline content check box, and then click OK.
On the Advanced tab, click Restore Defaults.
Note

If you?re using a browser other than Internet Explorer, see your
browser?s Help files, or contact the manufacturer and ask how to
optimize your Internet browser.

 Adjust your Internet security settings
On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
On the Security tab, click Trusted Sites.
Click Sites, and then clear the Require server verification (https:)
for all sites in this zone check box.
In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type *.hotmail.com, and then
click Add. Do the same for *.passport.com and *.msn.com, and then
click OK.
On the Security tab, click Default Level.
Repeat these steps for the Internet zone and the Restricted sites zone.

 Adjust your Internet privacy settings
On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
On the Privacy tab, click Sites.
In the Address of Web site box, type hotmail.com, and then click
Allow. Do the same for passport.com and msn.com, and then click OK.
On the Privacy tab, click Default.
Note

If you?re using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or earlier, these
steps aren?t available to you.

Reregister the files to run scripts on the page
On the Start menu, click Run.
Type Regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
When you receive a "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.

 Adjust your antivirus software settings
If your antivirus program has an option to scan the Temporary Internet
Files and Download Program Files folders, disable the option. See your
antivirus software documentation for instructions.

Install the latest version of the Java Virtual Machine
Download and install the latest version of the Java Virtual Machine
from the Sun Microsystems website.
Restart Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
On the Advanced tab, under Browsing, clear the Enable third-party
browser extensions (requires restart) check box.
Restart Internet Explorer.
If the problem still isn't resolved, click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
On the Advanced tab, under Browsing, select the Disable Script
Debugging (Internet Explorer) check box, and then click OK.

If none of these solutions work, and you're a Microsoft Windows user,
visit the Microsoft Windows Technical Support website for instructions
on how to update your script engine.
