Seeking the whereabouts in the US of Job Hooley born 1851 in
Stockport, England; moved to Oldham England c.1880 and was last known
to have travelled to the US via Ellis Island in April 1898 supposedly
for a temporary visit to his mother-in-law at 45, Union St. Kearsey
[sic: presumably Kearny] NJ.He was travelling with his second wife
Sarah [nee Calvert]and 10 year old daughter Beatrice.
There is no trace of his return to the UK. Did Job stay in the USA? I
have exhausted UK sources and have tried available on-line US ones.

I should add that there *is* only one Job Hooley registered in the UK
at this time; he consistently changes his age and other details but
not his name.

I have found some information on Job Hooley, which does not answer
your question but does provide background. I assume that you know
this information already. If the information is new to you, and if no
one ultimately comes up with an answer to your original question, I'd
be happy to post this material as an alternative answer. But I hope
that someone does answer your original question; it's an intriguing
mystery!

Thankyou for your response: The website you mention above is my own
:)- some of it based on the information contained in the Ellis Island
databases; but thanks for looking!
