Question ID: 717006
In 2002, the voters of Frisco, TX approved the sale of $20,000,000 in
bonds to fund the construction of a recreation and aquatics center.
Some or all of these bonds were probably sold in early 2003 (the full
$20,000,000 may have been sold in more than one transaction). I need
to know the details of those sales...dates, amounts, terms, interest
rates, etc. And, unfortunately, I need this information in the next
18 hours.

Please contact me with questions or information.

Thank you.

Jon, is this it? The year is wrong, or did they sell more in 2004?

http://www.ci.frisco.tx.us/uploadedFiles/Departments/Finance/FY2005_Approved_Budget.pdf
In July of 2004, the City sold approximately $33.7 million in General
Obligation Refunding and Improvement Bonds to refund outstanding
obligations of the City; construct and improve City streets, bridges
and intersections; construct and equip fire stations; construct and
equip a heritage and cultural center; and construct and equip a
recreation and aquatic center.

Jon,

It's possible to find historical municipal bond data online on a
date-by-date basis, but I'm not sure if it's the type of data you
need.

For instance, for June 12, 2003, the stats on Frisco TX:

Coupon Maturity Offer Side Yield # Trades Vol

FRISCO TEX
INDPT SCH
DIST SER A 4.500% 08/15/2029 101.970 / 102.000 4.13% / 4.13% 4 50

Is that your baby? And are these the types of data you're looking for?

Let me know what you think.

Thank you both for delving into this; I've been off on another crisis
of the moment so it's reassuring to know that smart people have been
thinking about this in my absence.

First, Cynthia's question: it is very possible, likely even, that the
bonds were sold in more than one transaction so yes, it's certainly
possible - almost certain - that this sentence is referencing some of
the bonds I'm looking for (I was relying on some newspaper coverage
from 2002 that indicated the first bonds were to be sold in 2003).

Unfortunately, though, I do need the sort of information contained in
Pafalafa's posting. On that topic...

I do need this sort of information - dates, yield, maturity, bid/ask,
effective yield and some indication of the size of the sales (I'm not
familiar enough with this sort of data to interpret the "Trade" and
"Vol" columns which may contain this information).

But, this particular bond sale is not part of the bond issues I'm
seeking; this one was by the Frisco Indepedent School District. The
bonds I'm seeking would have been issued by the City of Frisco or
perhaps its Community Development Commission (CDC).

And, finally, so that you have some context for why I need this
information, if I know the bond sale size, the yields and maturities,
I can estimate how much it might cost to repurchase the bonds.

Hope that helps. I'll be on line throughout the day and will try to
be as helpful as possible. Thank you for your work on this project.

Hello,

I'm guessing that the lack of action on this project means the
information is not easily obtainable. Unfortunately, the clock on
this request is rapidly ticking down so if there's anybody working on
this, please post a comment with a status report. Otherwise, I'll
cancel the question at the end of the day. Thanks to all who gave it
a look!

Jon,

My apologies, but I'm on the road, and I can't give your question the
full attention it needs...at least not in a timely manner.

But have a look at this link:

://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2005-04,GGLD:en&q=intitle%3A2003+OR+intitle%3A2004+site%3Amunicipalbonds%2Ecom++frisco+te+OR+tx

and let me know if the links here look like promising sources of
information. Any feedback you can provide will be helpful, and if I
can, I will certainly give your question more attention ASAP if no
other researcher picks up on it.

Pafalafa -

No worries on this one; I'm going to go for a direct approach and ask
the city for the information.

Thank you, though, for the effort. The web site you found no doubt
has the information we need in it somewhere, but finding it is a
classic needle/haystack kind of problem.

Is there a way I can provide you with a nominal tip even though we
weren't able to answer the question?

Thanks.

Jon,

Thanks for the offer of the tip, but it's really not necessary.

Good luck on this, though...hope your contacting the city turns up what you need.
