Sorry, but iTunes is unsupported on 98 and won't be supported. You
have to upgrade to Win 2000 or XP.

While it's true that you can't use iTunes with Win98, I believe you
can use Anapod or Ephpod (though both of those require Win98SE (NOT
the first edition of 98).

Instead of itune why not use realplayer? The driver for the ipod may
be difficult though

I used EphPod on Win 98 with no problems. It offers almost everything
iTunes does and is very easy to use.

You could also try WinAMP. As of version 5.21 there is integrated iPod
support, and there is also a plugin that has a fair amount of features
and decent support.

The only problem would be the drivers. When you plug the machine does
Windows 98 register as a disk drive or external disk?

I think you must install an older version of iTunes on your comp. And
there are older versions of iTunes available for Win 98.

Download Winamp (www.winamp.com), and then download a plugin for
Winamp that'll let you sync your iPod with your Winamp library. The
iPod Support Plug-In can be found here:

http://winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=138888

This plugin has some decent reviews, and I've heard from a friend who
uses an iPod that it works wonders.

Hope this helps you.

There is a webpage about using iPod under Windows 98/98SE:
