I'm taking online courses that require proctored exams. Some colleges
and libraries offer proctoring services, but the closest I've found to
Princeton, NJ are over an hour's drive away. I need a reputable
college/library/business that offers proctoring (possibly for a fee)
and is either within ~30 minutes drive of Princeton, NJ, or offers
proctoring on weekends/late nights. Thanks for any help!

Hello questioner237-ga!

When I first saw your question I thought this would be easy to find,
but after hunting on the internet, waiting on hold, and attempting to
navigate convoluted phone trees, I can see why you came looking on
Google Answers. I, too, have done online independent study courses in
the past and remember well arranging proctored exams.

I found 3 locations: 2 that will definitely accommodate your needs,
and one that should depending on limitations specific to your exams.
Each site has evening hours, weekend hours, or both. I?ll include the
details that I?ve found as well as approximate distances from
Princeton.

I found these testing sites on:
http://apps.collegeboard.com/cbsearch_clep/searchCLEPTestCenterResults.jsp?searchCategory_state=31&searchdb_city=&DBACTION=SEARCH_TC&x=0&y=0

The distances are according to http://maps.yahoo.com.

Here they are in order of usefulness and proximity.

MERCER COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
1200 Old Trenton Road
Academic Testing Center
West Windsor, NJ 08550
609-586-4800 x3299 (Michelle--Coordinator); x3295 (general)

This location was very helpful and said that they provide proctored
exams for hundreds of institutions nationwide. You will need to
contact them directly with your specific course information to
determine what is necessary to get your particular exams approved. The
woman with whom I spoke said that contacting Michelle, the Testing
Coordinator, at her extension listed above, would be the best thing to
do.

An exam sent by email, or that is computer-based has a proctoring fee
of $35 per exam. If it is a standard paper and pencil exam, that fee
is $25 per exam.

Their hours are:
M-Th 9 am - 8:30 pm
F 9 am ? 4 pm
Sat 9 am ? 3:30 pm

This site is approximately 6 miles from Princeton.

RARITAN VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Library, Room L029
Route 28 & Lamington Road
North Branch, NJ 08876
908-526-1200, Ext 8424

This was another very helpful location. As with other sites, you will
need to call and discuss specific exam details as well as the proctor
approval process. Independent study tests require that you schedule an
appointment in advance.

The proctoring fee is $40 per exam.

Their hours are:
M-Th 9 am ? 8 pm
F 9 am - 4:30 pm
Sat 9am ? 1 pm

This location is approximately 20 miles from Princeton.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY COLLEGE
2600 Woodbridge Avenue
Edison, NJ 08818-3050
732-906-2508

This location was by far the least helpful, but not entirely useless.
There are a number of limitations on availability and there may be
some residency requirements. The woman with whom I spoke asked if you
were a Middlesex County resident, but did not say that non-residents
are necessarily excluded from testing there. Also, they offer
independent study exams based upon their current student population
needs. The months most likely available consistently are
October/November and February/March. Specific availability and other
needs should, of course, be discussed with them directly.

Proctor fees are $20 per exam currently, but rates are set to increase
soon. She could not tell me exactly how much they will end up being.

Their hours are:
M 9 am- 8 pm
Tu-F 9 am ? 5pm (On Thursdays they only offer ESL testing)

This location is approximately 21 miles from Princeton.

I have found 2 other possible locations, but one is over 30 miles away
and I have left a message with another site (this one is closer than
30 miles) requesting information. When I hear back, I can post that
information as well, but I believe I have found what you seek.

I hope that this answers your question. Again, I know how it is to
take online courses and seek proctoring locations. I know it can be
more complicated than you think, so I hope to have alleviated any
possible stress for you in that department. If you have need of any
further clarification, please let me know how I can help. I wish you
success!

Sincerely,
Boquinha-ga

By the way, in case someone asks a similar question, I found the
following website useful:

However, it didn't have the info you found so it's definitely incomplete.
