I am searching for an accredited College/University that offers
courses online in an accelerated, self-paced format. An example of
what I am NOT looking for: University of Phoenix Online offers
"accelerated" classes, but they are not self-paced, i.e. and English
101 class takes 5-6 weeks to complete. In a special high school pilot
program, I completed 3 years of high school in less than 9 months --
same classes, same tests as everyone else. I'm looking for a similar
format for college.

You can earn credit for the first two years of almost any four year
program in the United States by using the CLEP program. (College Level
Entrance..) This nation-wide program provides tests of the knowledge
taught in each Freshman-Sophomore general education course. You must
buy your own textbooks and study on your own. You can find textbook
titles at any college bookstore or by contacting educational
publishers. CLEP provides a handout of the topics being tested and
even a sample test. Many Universities give these exams, usually for a
fee of under $100. The University that gives the exam then grant
credit to the individual who passes. CLEp should be able to ehlp you
find a University that will help you. Often the schools require that
you take at least some courses from them because the Universityies
school name appears on your transcript, along with "Credit by
examinaiton" instead of a grade.
Type in CLEP on Google web search and follow the links. This answer is
free as I was skimming for another question and knew the best method
off the top of my head.
