I need to know the dimensions of the CCD in a fuji s602zoom camera and
canon eos 350D.

I know the number for the fuji to be 1/1.7" but I have no idea how
this relates to the actual sensor size.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/canon_eos350d.asp?dontcount=1

gives you: 22.2 x 14.8 mm

http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Glossary/Camera_System/sensor_sizes_01.htm
explains that

1/1.7" equals 7.6 x 5.7 mm
