My old windows xp installion was messed up so I went ahead and
installed windows xp pro again except this time on the D:\ drive
instead of the C:\

Now my problem is that I need to be able to browse to c:\Documents and
settings\administrator.

Whenever I click on the c:\ drive in the new installion of xp pro I
see all the files of the old messed up windows. I can browse
everything on the c:\ drive except for C:\documents and
settings\administrator because in the old installion I chose the
option in windows xp to private for my files.

I know the admin/username for that drive, I just can't find a place to
put it in to access that private win xp folder from this new fresh
installion.

For those of you that don't understand the question, I basically want
to access a users folder marked private by windows xp in a previous
installion of windows xp on my hard drive. I can't boot to that os
since the files are messed up but I can access it's file from my new
installion of windows my simply clicking on c:\ drive. I just can't
get into C:\Documents and Settings\administrator which is where all my
important files are.

If you are still confused after all of this please ask for clarification.

thanks

Have you tried booting Windows into ?safe mode? and ?Last Known Good
Configuration?? Maybe your old XP install is still bootable but only
in a limited environment? If you have tried my previous suggestions,
then the problem you are describing should be fixed by ?taking
ownership? of the files/folders. FYI, before you begin the procedure,
verify that you are using NTFS and that ?Simple File Sharing? is
disabled, if the procedure in the link doesn?t work, repeat it in safe
mode.

I hope this helps.
