Can I get a mortgage if I've had a house foreclosed on in the past?  I
was in foreclosure in 1997.

Probably, if you have done a good job in rehabilitating your credit
rating.  There is nothing that would absolutely prohibit someone in
your position from getting a mortgage again.  Whether you would get
the best terms for a mortgage, if you got one, is another question.
